One of the most popular attractions at the Pacific Science Center, this project sought to enhance the exhibit with additional educational materials. The emerging window showcases pupae and allows visitors the opportunity to witness butterflies and moths emerge from their final stage of metamorphosis. New graphics frame the window and give context to identify moth cocoons versus butterfly chrysalises. Scientific accuracy is important, even down to the decorative flower details based on an actual plant pollinated by butterflies. To incorporate more interactive experiences, microscopes showing butterfly wings were installed. To allow flexibility for changing the specimens under the microscopes, interpretation is displayed as a booklet that is easy to update and can be produced in-house.
